The Coastal belt of the
State of Kerala is well connected by Rail. Many of the important towns
and cities of Kerala like Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kottayam, Alapuzha,
Ernakulam, Kochi, Thrissur, Palakkad, Shoranur, Nilambur, Tirur,
Kozhikode, Tellicherry, Cannanore, Kanhangad, Kasaragod etc are
networked through Rail. The Railway Network runs guage operations
extending over 1148 route KMs in Kerala of which 111.14 KM are Meter
Guage. Trivandrum, Palghat and Madurai Divisions of Southern Railway
controls the Railway Operations in the State.
