POWER
KSE Board is the
sole distributor of the Electrical Energy for the state of Kerala except
Thrissur Corporation and Munnar where the distribution is managed by
licensees. In Thrissur, City Corporation and in Munnar M/s Tata Tea Ltd
are the licensees.
Kerala Power System has an installed capacity of 3565.66 MW
consisting of 30 Power Generating Stations - 24 Hydel, 5 Thermal and 1
Wind. Out of this, KSEB ownes 22 Hydel, 1 wind and 2 Thermal Stations.
Of the existing capacity of 3565.66 MW, 1842.6 MW is from KSEBs Hydel
Plants, 33 MW from Hydel Captive Power Plants, 234.6 MW from KSEB's
Thermal Plants, 177.4 MW from Thermal Plants of IPP, 359.58 MW from
Kayamkulam Thermal Station of NTPC, 2.03 MW from KSEB's Wind Project and
916.41 MW shared from the Central Generating Stations.
The LT consumer base is dominated by domestic consumers
(78.89%) followed by commercial users (14.49%). Agricultural consumers
form 5.16% of the consumer base whereas Industrial consumers are a
meagre 1.46%.
